Summer White Wines

As we approach the dog days of summer, I’ve opted to share a slew of cool white wine samples worth sipping well past Labor Day.  Enjoy!

Santorini Boutari 2016 Assyrtiko white wine is grown on the Greek island of Santorini.

TASTING NOTES:

Wine:  Boutari Santorini Assyrtiko White Wine

Vintage: 2016

Alcohol:  13%

Suggested Retail: $25

Robe:  Clear golden robe.

Nose: Pine, jasmine, saline aromas.

Bouche: Lemon-citrus, saline, mineral bouche; light-medium body, acid+, fandango of a finish. A delicious rendering of the Assyrtiko grape produced on the idyllic island of Santorini, meant to pair with seafood. A pleasant surprise for those willing to voyage into Greek wine.  Excellent quality wine.

Robe:  Clean, light straw hue.

Nose:  White floral, almond,  mineral aromas.

Bouche:  Honeyed almond blossom, white stone, stone fruit bouche; seductive tango between unctiousness and minerality. Exceptional quality + value wine.

J Dusi 2017 Pinot Grigio us produced in Paso Robles, CA.

TASTING NOTES:

Wine:  J Dusi Pinot Grigio – Paso Robles, CA.

Vintage:  2017

Alcohol:  12.5%

Robe:  Pale straw hue.

Nose: Green grass, acacia, pear, stone fruit aromas.

Bouche:  Pear and stone fruit aromas carry through on the bouche; light body, acids, finish. Picnic wine.

Pomar Junction Winery & Vineyard 2017 Sidetrack White wine is produced in Paso Robles, CA.

TASTING NOTES:

Wine:  Pomar Junction Vineyard & Winery Sidetrack White Wine – Paso Robles, CA.

Robe:  Clear lemon hue.

Nose:  Orange blossom, nectarine, ripe pear aromas.

Bouche:  Bartlett pear, white nectarine, acacia bouche; rounded, fleshy mouthfeel; medium body, acids, finish. Patio wine.

Opolo Vineyards 2017 Roussanne is sourced from Paso Robles, CA.

Robe: Light gold robe.

Nose:  White peach, green apple, Meyer lemon aromas.

Bouche: Discrete stone fruit, mineral and citrus bouche; medium body, acids, finish. A supple, summer wine best served chilled, either as an apéro, or paired with small plates like fresh melon and prosciutto.
