Tête de Bulle “Spill the Tea”
TdB’s forthcoming 2026 Substack series
A prequel, featuring wine writer and photographer Randy Caparoso

Happy holidays, all! In the spirit of holiday giving, I’m sharing a prequel to my upcoming 2026 TdB series “Spill the Tea Tuesday.”
The series showcases fellow Substackers, their noteworthy projects, and a few of their current cultural pet peeves.
Personally, it’s a way for me to give back to the Substack community – a platform I joined – and celebrate – for its filter-free authenticity.
This holiday prequel features triple-threat wine writer, gourmand, and photographer Randy Caparoso, author of Substack sites “The Wine Clarion,” “Randy Caparoso’s Culinary Approach to Wine In Restaurants,” and “photography with feeling.”
I’ve long followed Randy’s photography and writing, and enjoy his contributions as a fellow member of the Circle of Wine Writers.
Today, he shares one of his cultural pet peeves:
“Oh, I have lots of peeves. Spending nearly 50 years as a full-time wine professional, 45 years of it as a published newspaper wine columnist and industry magazine, as well as online contributor, the pet peeves tend to accumulate.
I first heard of Substack, as it were, through Tom Wark, who invited me to do a “Ramble” on his “Fermentation” Substack page back in 2023. It turned out to be a very long conversation (no doubt the longest Wark has ever done, mostly because I can be such a windbag), but it is full of these pet peeves aired out, which is exactly what Wark asked for.
Honestly, though, if you read through the “Ramble” you might think I have a dim view of the wine industry as a whole. I do and I don’t.
I am actually full of admiration for the wine professionals (including sommeliers and journalists) of today. Read the full TdB “Spill the Tea” prequel here.
