Today, TdB meets up with Napa-based photographer Allison Watkins of Alison Watkins Studio.

LMA: What is your Substack site, and what is it about?
AW: Allison Watkins Studio, my site features the photography I create and my experience as a photographer living and working in the Napa Valley.
LMA: What was your impetus for starting it?
AW: I wanted to connect with a community outside of Instagram, and share my photographs and writing in the long form.
LMA: What current project excites you most right now?
AW: My project “Flowers for Cinema,” and the commercial work I’m creating for brands in the wine industry.
LMA: Anything else that subscribers need to know about you?
AW: I’m looking forward to 2026! I’m taking a trip to Japan in the spring for cherry blossom season and I’m excited to photograph and share what I’ve created on Substack.LMA: Current cultural pet peeve?
AW: Young people addicted to Tik Tok. We need more spaces for young people to connect in person.
