And we’re back for the fifth in a five-part series on Crémant de Bourgogne.

(This interview has been edited for length and clarity.)

INTRODUCTION

Roland Van Hecke is co-manager of the family EARL, or Exploitation Agricole à Responsabilité Limitée, a French legal structure commonly used for agricultural and wine-growing businesses.

M. Van Hecke also works along side his son Benjamin in the winemaking process, namely in the production of Crémant de Bourgogne at Roland Van Hecke.

HISTORY

LMA: Could you briefly introduce the history of estate?

Roland Van Hecke: The Van Hecke family estate has been producing exceptional Crémants de Bourgogne for more than 25 years.

The house has built its identity around artisanal know-how, with the aim of offering characterful cuvées, produced in small quantities and with great care.

Here, time is a true ally: long aging periods allow the wines to gain finesse, complexity, and elegance.

The estate’s crémants are conceived as genuine terroir-driven wines, capable of standing alongside other renowned sparkling appellations through their quality and personality.

Although the estate does not claim any Premier Cru or Grand Cru classifications, its cuvées are regularly recognized.

Over the past five years, the house’s five historic cuvées have received nearly 50 medals and awards in various guides and international competitions. READ THE FULL INTERVIEW HERE.
